For all you commuters out there
I want to start commuting a couple of times a week and was just wondering how long other peoples commutes are. im looking at a 10 mile commute right now and like 7 when i move later this year.

my usual commute is 8 one way. that feels just right. if you are going to commute through the summer, get your bag off your back by getting a basket or rack. it makes all the difference.

Mine's only about 1.2 miles each way. Hardly a commute really, but much faster by bike.

Re: For all you commuters out there
mine is 5 each way if i ride from my apartment. 7 each way if i'm riding from Brittany's. it'll still be about 7 each way when i move to south b.rip in a couple of weeks.
all in all, between 10-15 miles a day of commuting. that's about perfect. also, keith is right. riding with a bag sucks. i'm looking to build up a commuter bike with some racks and panniers so i don't have to carry my messenger bag in the summer. sweatback sucks.

10.5 or more.... if i make it more...I hate the way a loaded bike handles so Ill keep the load on my back....besides it makes my core stronger...

7.5 each way but I don't do it every day. But I agree to get a rack. I started w/backback and that suckkkked. I'm able to leave stuff at work in the locker room so I don't carry shoes and towels and all that back and forth.

Re: For all you commuters out there
I have no idea. Less than a five mile round-trip, though. Even though when we moved into the house, it just about doubled. I wish I was going to work these days, and I wish I was riding my bike there even more. Stupid leg...
Mine's short enough that I don't mind the bag. Plus, when I ride to work at 6am, it's not that hot, and since I work in a factory with no AC, I'm going to sweat through my shirt before 8 anyway.
Best thing in the world is riding home from work in the rain.

you know, i say this and the same about snow all the time, but i hardly ever hear it come from someone else, or find people who don't think i'm crazy for it.
