 License Plate Petition
http://www.bicycleindiana.org/They need 500 signatures by April 27th. from the site: Quote: We are filing an application for a Bicycle Indiana license plate. Beginning in 2010, if the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles approves our application, you can buy a special Bicycle plate for only $40 (not including your vehicle fee). IBC will receive $25 from each plate sold. Those funds will go a long way toward helping our mission to assist communities throughout Indiana to realize the economic, recreational and health benefits of bicycling. More importantly; however, for the first time Hoosier citizens will be able to display a license plate that expresses their support of bicycling.

 Re: License Plate Petition
I thought this was going to be about having plates on our bikes.

 Re: License Plate Petition
Don't mind at all. At least this time signatures are all that is required. Last time I signed it, a deposit was also required. Got one going around my work as well.
No, I didn't make it to the meeting. How was it?

 Re: License Plate Petition
long but pretty interesting, and definitely informative. they were pretty excited to have Hunt and me there and want to meet with us about some stuff with IndyCog and helping Bicycle Indiana move forward with rebranding and such. they announced that they've renamed themselves from the Indiana Bicycle Coalition to Bicycle Indiana, etc. etc.
also, they served up a totally boosh lunch.

 Re: License Plate Petition
Just FYI, if you signed the petition and it is approved, your signature is an agreement to purchase the plate next year.

 Re: License Plate Petition
shit. i guess it does say that on petition. do you really think they'd enforce that? i mean, i plan on buying one if adopted, but for others? half the people who've signed mine don't even have a car.
and i don't even see how they would enforce it. i get asked every year if i want to buy an environmental plate or an In God We Trust plate or whatever, and i just say, "no."

 Re: License Plate Petition

I spoke to Nancy Tibbett (Bicycle Indiana and CIBA) this morning about that. She said it will not be enforced. Now if it were me and I weren't interested in purchasing said plate, I'm not sure that would be enough assurance for me to sign it. But I do know in the past when this petition was going around, you actually had to give a $25 deposit. At least that requirement is gone.
